Pros: Better signal than my other routers, good performance sometimes, easy to setup
Cons: Doesn't work with bittorent programs, slows down sometimes,
The wireless signal is not bad I owned Linksys wrt54gs and this router has stronger signal than that router, maybe not stronger but my laptop doesn't disconnect that much. I was using bittorent program with this router and for some reason once bittorent reach certain speed, router would casue internet to turn off and eventually to slow it down. Even after bittorrent was shut down internet was slow, only computer reboot would fix that problem. I went to check on the firmware, it turn out that firmware on the router was newer than what it was on the belkin website. I tried flashing that router and router didn't die but it is not longer accessable, same as dead. From my experience belkin products don't perform well and I will avoid buying them.

Pros: Easy install. Good signal in house.
Cons: sometime I have to reboot router.
Basically it's a good router at all -- based on its price and high-speed connection. But I was just not happy with some weakness. Sometime I have to reboot the router (about every 10 days), otherwise the connection look not disconnected but actually there's no data in and out. Signal is good. I placed it on the first floor in my house, and I use my laptop on second floor. No signal lost (it's strong). Configuration is easy, and most people can do it without any trouble. I gave it 3 stars.

Pros: Installation was easy to setup. Works well with other Belkin Wireless products. Had decent signal strength in my apartment.
Cons: Did not like to cooperate with the D-Link wireless G notebook card that I had.
As long as you stick with Belkin wireless cards, this router will work well. Had mixed signal reception with D-Link wireless card that I had. Your mileage will vary.

Pros: very fast
Cons: looks not that cute
I bought this for my home network, and I found it is really very fast. Much better than the normal 54Mbps model. The only thing I don't like is that like all other Belkin products, the design is not that modern.

Pros: Excellent as a cable modem
Cons: may not be asa DSL wireless router
The Belkin High-Speed Wrls. G Router works excellent as a cable modem wireless router, but not as a DSL wireless router.I put the Belkin wireless router in my house where I have Cable modem connection and works awesome! I have discover that the Belkin wireless Router is designed specially for cable modem connection but have technical problems with the DSL Protocols from providing companies, so in clear words, this router is perfect for cable modem connections but a nightmare for DSL.

Pros: Easy to SetUp. Excellent Signal Strength. Good Value for Money if you can shop around.
Cons: If You want to Increase the Range You cannot change the Antenna. Din't like the Web Interface
I already had F5D7230-4 Model and I liked it, so naturally I was temped to buy this one with more speed. Really I don't see much difference between the two, except that it is a bit faster than the regular 802.11g model for networking. The Performance for Wireless Internet access is Good. I didn't have any dropped calls till now. Setup was a breeze. So far I am happy with the Purchase.

Pros: Easy Setup. Good product for the price paid.
Cons: High Speed 125Mps is just a hype. In real world, not that fast comparing to other 54G.
One thing I like Belkin is their wireless router always come with a very compact 110v~220v dual voltage power adapter, unlike similar products from Netgear or even Linksys. So I buy it for my friends in other contries as well. Performance wise, I think it's on par with others. Good buy!

Pros: Easy installation.
Cons: Limited usefulness outside of internet sharing.
I was looking for a wireless means to share and transfer files between a multimedia computer in the living room, used for video recording and viewing, and an office computer used for video editing and saving to dvd. The Belkin F5D7231-4 router is NOT the solution, even matched with the high speed PCI adapters. Following the installation instructions, everything hooked up fine, but transfer rates were VERY SLOW, about one-tenth of my LAN 10/100 wired connection. I called their 24/7 tech support several times but was told to try changing the channels and that "Belkin does NOT support use of the router for file sharing". After playing with the custom settings for several days, I finally got the speed up to one-third of my LAN rate. If you don't have DSL or cable internet, like me, this product is "A complete waste of money!!!"

Pros: easy to install, low price
Cons: soso performance
I owned a netgear 108Mbps superG router and now I get a more "powerful" router, which claim to be 125Mbps, but the true performance of the latter is soso, the transfer rate is about 4.5MB, while the 108Mbps has 5.9Mbps, Compare it, I will go with Netgear.

Pros: Cheap for the features it offers.
Cons: Signal tend to drop occassionally, especially if someone is using a 2.4ghz phone. antenna is not removable.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the modem. The signal strength is strong overall and faster than 54mps, though it almost never reached 104 it promised. Also antenna is not removable, which may be a slight inconvenience. Very good price for the features (got it for 30 after rebate, assuming the rebate works out).

by tjames007 -
Pros: Very stable. Never drop connection.
Cons: It didn't transfer fast as my expected.
I have this one running for 2 months and very happy with this wireless router. I had this up and running in 15 mins. Very easy to install. May be it is me but I never can get transfer rate faster than my old netgear wireless G router.
Pros: Tech support people are very courteous and professional.
Cons: Works like a Charm and so None.
I was skeptical at first, but the setup was extrememly easy and I encountered no problems. I was up and running in less than 15 minutes from the time I took it out of the box. I definitely recommend this product. So far, a real bargain and worth the trouble considering the $50 savings through rebates.
Pros: Easy Setup, Range is wide around my apt, the speed is also excellent.
Cons: The wireless is not secured.
Speed seems good for me on Wireless Adapter and Wireless Desktop. Easy to set up the installation. The speed was somewhat lacking in terms of advertised 108 Mbps. Overall a very functional access point with good Belkin customer service. Compared to our Sonicwall products which, we pay a yearly support for, Belkin's tech support is free, on time, and has always been helpful.

Pros: Easy to setup. Good speeds and low cost
Cons: none
This is a great router for $20.00. Does not have the speeds described in the box, but has a reasonable speed connection. Setup out of the box was fast and simple. It has WPA security. Overall not the best router out there but gets the job done.

Pros: Lifetime Guaranteetoll free, no charge, 24/7 tech support is excellent.
Cons: May not work with other brands of wireless range-extenders/access-points.
24/7 toll free phone, withh no charge tech support is very useful. Wireless networks are subject to all sorts of bugs which need help. Belkin's help is excellent quality.
Pros: Lifetime warranty, good range, ease of installation
Cons: Speed was overrated
Overall I had pretty good experience with the 125HSM router from Belkin. The speed is somewhat overrated but still is considered faster than the basic 54g but not by much. The range of the unit is pretty good for my house and overall installation was simple. Most of the features were relatively basic for a wireless router nowadays but the price is reasonable for me to consider getting this unit. Lifetime warranty is provided by Belkin which is a nice benefit but I doubt I'll use it that long.Overall I think this is a pretty good bargain with features that are for most basic use. There are other better units in the market but expect to pay more $$$.
Pros: Simple and effective out of the box, reasonable performance (but not outstanding), WDS support, low cost (if you shop carefully for rebates)
Cons: Non-detachable antenna, no email alerts, can't disable wireless, no DDNS support, only "pseudo" static IP assignments, no xmit power (or other wireless)adjustments.
I've owned this model and several of the Belkin 54G F5D7230-4 routers. Take my word for it, the ONLY functional difference between this F5D7231-4 and the F5D7230-4 is, the former has *theorectically* double the performance. But the features and interface are virtually identical, so much so, you can easily mistake one for the other should you have both on your network (like I do). Frankly, the HSM 125mbps mode is virtually useless, it will only work reliably in an environment w/ essentially *zero* 2.4Ghz interference, whatever the source. The slightest interference from a neighbor's wireless system, a portable phone, etc., and it drops back to 54G, more trouble than it's worth (maybe useful for more rural customers). So why pay more for the F5D7231-4?!As a router, this is a VERY middle of road, average product. If you're the kind of person who just wants to power it up, make few configuration changes, willing to accept modest security, it's adequate. But if you're any kind of tweaker, you'll find it frustrating. First, the antenna is non-detachable, so forget about adding an external antenna to extend range. Second, the router has no alert options (send an email upon attack, error, whatever), so you only find out about "issues" when you review the router's log. Third, you can't disable the wireless (leaving only wired functionality). Fourth, no DDNS (Dynamic DNS) support, so unlike other routers (e.g., D-Link DI-624), it will NOT update your dynamic IP address on NO-IP.org, dyndns.org, etc., should your ISP's ip address assignment change (something highly desireable for those wanting remote access to their network). Fifth, you can't define static IP assignments, all you can do is make a DHCP dynamic IP assignment non-expiring, which isn't quite the same thing (order of client boot-up matters then as well). On a soft reset, DHCP IP assignments *could* change, making remote access a pain to maintain. Sixth, you can't adjust the wireless transmit power (in fact, there's very little of ANYTHING on the wireless side that's adjustable, such as beacon interval, RTS threshold, fragmentation, etc., virtually nothing). On the plus side, the router supports WDS (Wireless Distributed System), so you can bridge the router (along w/ the F5D7230-4 as well) and create a very large, distributed wireless network, and cheaply (very nice)! Peformance in 54G mode (125mbps HSM mode is so rarely achievable, it's next to impossible to reliably measure) is roughly 14-18mbps (across two floors, a staircase, couple walls, about 50 ft apart), adequate but not as good as comparable models from D-Link (e.g., DI-624, 18-22mbps).To summarize, the router is adequate, does the job. But it's best suited for the less technically inclined and those with less demands, people who just want to "drop it in" and assume the best. But if you insist on LOTS of features and options, and tend to assume the worst, this router isn't for you. You'll simply find yourself frustrated by the lack of control and configuration options. And if you do decide to purchase this router anyway, you might as well get the cheaper F5D7230-4 model and save a few bucks, all the negatives described herein apply equally to BOTH the F5D7231-4 and F5D7230-4 models.

Cons: Speed is not quiet fast as describe.
this router is a great buy after manufacture rebate. Compare to other router like Linksys .However, The speed of this router is not quiet well.

Pros: Fairly easy setup, security options
Cons: Web interface flakey, signal strength
I use this router on a dsl connection. So far I have not had any dropped connections or needed a restart of any kind. I will say that the signal is fair to good. I can usually get a signal of about -65dB (using the broadcom link status meter) about 35ft. away from the router (through 3 standard drywall, 2x4 interior walls). This is about the same as using the wireless connection on a Westell Versalink gateway. So there really is no improvement by simply changing the devices. However, the router does have the WPA security that the Westell is lacking. Security is pretty standard with a built-in firewall, WEP or WPA encryption, MAC filtering etc. Customizing the features is done through a web page interface, however, I have found that to be frustrating at times. Several times while making changes to a security feature, the screen will often revert back to whatever the settings were before the changes were made, AFTER YOU PRESS THE APPLY CHANGES BUTTON. Even though the changes were made, I did not know that until I logged out a logged back in. There is a feature that allows the logged in time to terminate after a set number of minutes to avoid the connection being open to anyone, however, even after upping my time limit to 99 min., it did not solved the above mentioned problem. Never the less, one thing you should do is go to the customizing area of the interface and change the logged in status time to a high number so you have sufficient time to apply changes. Nothing worse than typing in a complicated 63 character WPA key only to have your session time out and lose the changes. I use a Broadcom 54g Maxperformance card running the 125 highspeed mode on my laptop and I have found a good speed increase over the Westell wireless connection. So for that reason, I can live with the web interface problems, and be happy with the increased wireless performance.

Pros: Signal Range is Excellent, I pick up Very Good to Excellent connection throughout a 2000 sq foot house. The interface is easy to work with. It supports TKIP WPA-PSK security. Guarantee and Support A++
Cons: Wish it had removeable antennas but it's not too hard to make your own. It's cheaper and better anyway. :)
No dropped signals on a PC running at the 125HSM mode with the Belkin card or a notebook running 54g mode or another computer that's connecting to the 10/100 port. Speed seems good for me. Be aware that if you have one 54g non-HSM wireless device on the net it will take the whole net to 54g. This is normal but it's something that should be understood beforehand. Always secure your router, set admin name/pass, set WPA-PSK TKIP security and MAC filtering if you can, and turn the broadcasting off.The antenna's almost made me give it a 4 but the customer service is amazingly good. I called a few times for a problem getting the HSM working on a non Belkin product. With Belkin's help only, I found out that the product was misadvertised to support 125HSM. The notebook manufacturer nor the built-in wireless card chipset provider would do anything to help me but Belkin did everything they could even though it wasn't their problem. That along with the excellent price, speed, performance, lifetime guarantee I can't see myself getting anything else. It has to get a 5.
Pros: Tech Support is good. Setup of this this router was a breeze. Great price.
Cons: Speed is not so great. Once in a while drops the signal.
For the money this router is a great buy. Most people find that everything they need for basic internet, files sharing comes in this router. This router for me has been so far just decent, I am looking to get a Linksys instead but for the money I paid for this, you can't beat the performance.

Pros: Range is sufficent for my apartment. The speed is fine.Easy web interface for modifying settings.Great Price.
Cons: 1.Easy web interface shows everything for your network even secured. If not secured, everyone within the range can modify your settings remotely. It scared me a lot.2.MAC filtering doesn't work.
I bought it in thanksgiving. Lots of problems so far. The easy setup doesn't work for me with DSL modem. Default firewall setting is weird. Security is terrible. Consider switching to another brand now. Not recommend to anybody.
Pros: Very easy set-up, even for those with modest computer skills. Belkin has a good reputation for the products they build and market - also have a reputation for very good (and free) tech. support.
Cons: Speed seems to be a little less than advertised, but fine for our purposes.
I have had no problems with the unit to date. It has good connectivity thru out the house (three floors). It is too cold to test its range outside. Thus far I think that it is a good value.

by damon417 -
Pros: Very easy to setup. Good Belkin tech support.
Cons: Between the router and the "high-speed mode" cards we are not really reaching the speeds as advertised. Has stopped responding once requiring a manual restart.
This product is very easy to setup. The speed was somewhat lacking in terms of advertised 108 Mbps. Overall a very functional access point with good Belkin customer service. Compared to our Sonicwall products which, we pay a yearly support for, Belkin's tech support is free, on time, and has always been helpful.
