Pros: x
Cons: Eureka Boss 4870.The beater brush does not turn
The vacuum is only 2yrs old, was serviced under warranty but never fixed correctly. I have followed setting instructions. I was sold a LEMON and have received no satisfaction from Eureka Customer Service. Will buy a different brand tomorrow.
Pros: Hard to tell in the short amount of time that I had it. Although I will say that it is lighter than the vacuum that it was replacing.
Cons: Construction and quality control.
I was so disappointed. It was so highly rated by Consumer Reports. I returned it to the store this morning after trying to use it just a few times. Using it was a battle. I could not get it to release into the vacuuming position and when I was done, I could not get it to return to the upright position. Changing from floor to carpet was a battle every time. Air blows out the front of the machine (thru the HEPA filter)and sends dust and hair-balls skitter along the bare floor. When I took the cover off to remove the bag this morning before returning the machine, it took 10 tries to get the cover back on. The vacuum I was using sure did not sound like the vacuum in the rest of these reviews -- which I read before I shopped! I guess my only recommendation would be to play with the floor model before you buy (which I did not, so much did I put my trust in all the reviews!)
Pros: Easy to assemble, on-board hose and tools
Cons: Small bag, noisy
Overall I am happy with my purchase. I do, however, trying a vac in person before buying one on-line. I didn't do that. The unit squeaks a little. I haven't figured out why yet. It does a much better job of fluffing my carpet than my old vac. This was rated high with the big consumer magazine. I like the fact that I can adjust the height. It makes it much easier to vac the thick bathroom rugs.

Pros: Great suction, cleans very well.
Cons: Vacuum is heavy.
I like the vacuum although it is heavy and not easy to store or get up and down stairs. It cleans well on wall-to-wall carpet, but watch out for the throw rugs.

Pros: good suction, smart design of on-board tools
Cons: a little heavy
attachments are good, vacuum is good--excellent for cleaning, but a little heavy. better than my old eureka. smartly designed--the cord comes undone with a flick of a tab, and it's easier to switch from the floor to the hose/tools.enjoy!
Pros: It sucks... quite well! Hi-speed roller brush and great suction. Plus, my landlord paid for it!
Cons: The handle release foot control is really stiff. Setting the dial to "bare floor" doesn't always turn off the roller-brush automatically.
Years ago, I had what was probably one of the original model numbers of this highly effective and efficient Boss line. I seem to recall the price back then (maybe 10-15 yrs ago?) at around $90. I always remembered how well that vacuum worked (and I've used high-end Kirby's before!) Even at it's current price, it's still the best value on the market. The addition of the HEPA filter is a plus. My concerns have been the ultra-stiff foot controlled handle release and the bare floor settings not always remaining in the brush off mode. You do NOT want that brush spinning on a wood floor! The manual doesn't explain it very well, but I think I've mastered the proper order of the steps necessary to ensure the roller brush remains off on bare floor setting. Other than those issues, I couldn't be more impressed with a product which is an incredibly inexpensive vacuum which outperforms those costing hundreds more. Smart move by Eureka to maintain the Boss SmartVac line all these years.

Pros: Strong suction, wide path, quiet
Cons: Heavy. Short hose
The Eureka vacuum is powerful and quiet. It has a wide path brush which makes it more efficient in bigger spaces. The suction is very good and much better than my previous vacuum (which was also a Eureka). The brush is so powerful that it feels like the vacuum is self-propelled. However, because of the this and the weight of the vacuum it is a bit heavy to pull the vacuum backwards. One thing that could be improved is the location of the power button. The button is not on the vacuum handle but on the body of the vacuum so you have to reach down to turn the vacuum on and off. All in all a very good vacuum for the price (below $150). It was Consumer reports best buy. I would highly recommend this vacuum to anyone.

Pros: great suction even on hand tools. really fluffs the carpet
Cons: the handle release activated by one's foot is a little stiff
This is a great vacuum and a true bargain for the price. The suction is very strong even in the hand tools. My carpets feel very fluffed up after vacuuming.

Pros: Great suction, easy switch between carpet and bare floors, ability to adjust based on carpet thickness, front light to help vacuum in dark corners
Cons: Heavy to lift up and down stairs, a bit bulky to navigate in tight spaces, initially had major difficulty getting the vacuum latch to release to lower the handle to vacuum - very tight
Well, I had my new vacuum for three days and I am pretty pleased with its performance. My previous vacuum broke down from having to suck up a lot of construction debris, and I was in desperate need of a new vacuum cleaner for the new carpets in the bedrooms, in addition to vacuuming the hardwood floors in the rest of the house. I have looked on consumerreports.com for their review of vacuum cleaners and this one was one of the best buys. Amazon's GoldBox deal of $119 and free shipping persuaded me to purchase the vacuum that is usually priced at $150. The first impression as I dragged the box into the house was that it was quite heavy. The same impression got confirmed as I dragged the vacuum out of the box. The "assembly" took less than 10 minutes, and it took that long as my husband was reading the directions instead of guessing how to put the things together, per my request :) Upon the completion, I gave it a whirl around my living room rug and floor. I had to switch the height level switch a couple of times to get the desired suction level, as prior its suction was a bit too strong and my rug edges were getting 'sucked in.' However, after I figured out a good setting, it was a smooth sailing. I can't comment too much about the floor suction as although it seems to pick up the dust and debris fine, it was refusing to pick up a couple of screws. I had to keep driving over them until they got sucked in. At the same time, as some of the screws got pushed against a wall, the vacuum could not suck them up by the wall and I had to kick the screws into an open space before the vacuum sucked them up. Overall, I have been very very happy with the suction and cleaning of carpets with this vacuum. I just wish it was a bit lighter and easier to maneuver. I guess this is because I used to have Hoover Featherlite before which was very light (and cost me only 40 bucks initially to buy).

Pros: Very good for people with elergies. A very good floor vacuum.
Cons: The switch for floor setting from carpet is a little hard.
Works excellently, eliminates 99% of dust. Had no problems and am absolutely happy with this purchase. A very good floor vacuum, haven't seen anything this great. The switch for floor setting from carpet is a little hard, but no complains.

Pros: price, suction, reliability
Cons: HEAVY, no retractable cord
Consumer Reports was right calling it a Best Buy It's less than half the price of HOOVERS and their quality is way worse than it used to be. Excellent suction but it's heavy. Wish it had a retractable cord but very few vacuums do. I have cats so bags (not bagless) are the only way. Great Value.

Pros: Good overall performance and build
Cons: A bit unwieldy and not the lightest or quietest piece of machinery
Honestly, I don't know a thing about vacuum cleaners. My last one was made in the early '90s, and I squeezed every last drop of power out of it, to the point where it was doing more harm than good (spitting up dust, emitting terrible odors, etc.). So, when it finally came time to purchase a new vac, I simply chose the one that would give me the best value/performance for the money I was willing to spend. I got a pretty good deal on this one, and probably got my money's worth. Sure, I could have invested in a better vac had I been willing to spend a bit more and do more research, but I needed something quick. Anyway, thus far, the Boss SmartVac has been doing a respectable job cleaning up after my slovenly ways.

Pros: Great suction, picks up everything that I can see, cleans the crevices nicely when using the hose. A consumer report Best Buy, as well as a Consumersearch.com's highly rated machies.
Cons: Maroon color only. Uses bags. Seems to squeak (plastic touching plastic squeak when moving) Manual switching from floor to hose (you may forget). Heavy vacuum.
Great vacuum, highly rated by many consumer websites and magazines. I've had this for 2 weeks and so far it's cleaned the house very well. The bags are quite small and seem to fill up quickly if you have a big house. Also it may be because I have new carpet (a year old) and fibers still come up. The vacuum is heavy enough to not fall over when using the hose, but it's cumbersome when doing the stairs. The powerpaw brush is pretty useless as it's angle forces you to push it a certain way in order for it to work. From reading reviews on Amazon, it seems that this model has a thing for squeaks - the plastic that touches at the hinge of the brush body and the vacuum body makes noise when vacuuming. The hose is fairly long enough, but it would be nice to have an extra few feet to get those things on the ceiling comfortably. It does a pretty good job keeping the dust and dirt where it belongs, and when changing bags a wet cloth will pick up what dust has escaped from the bag (very little). Overall one of the best vacuums in the 100-150 price range!

Pros: After only one use, vacuum seems to have serious power sucking in dirt particles, dust bunnies, etc. Has lots of accessories for versatile cleaning.
Cons: Due to the power, it's easy to manuever the vacuum forward but a little more difficult to pull back. The level button on the left side is difficult to move.
Liked that the vacuum came with a bag and Hepa filter to start and seemed to have power to suck in dirt. Also like the wide width of the vacuum although it was a bit hard to use in smaller areaa. Some of the accessories have strange placements on the vacuum - sticks out in some places and some accessories fell off while manuvering.
